Watch online Earthlings, the shocking documentary about society’s cruel treatment of animals

earthlings-square1

If you’ve never watched this documentary, then I urge you to do so unless you have a weak heart.

Earthlings is a 2005 multi-award-winning documentary about speciesism by Shaun Monson. The film was narrated by Hollywood actor and animal rights activist Joaquin Phoenix. Earthlings also features a score by musician and activist Moby, who’s one of my favourite musicians.

The documentary is about the suffering of animals for food, fashion, pets, entertainment and medical research. It is nicknamed “the Vegan maker” for its sensitive footage shot at animal shelters, factory farms, slaughterhouses, circuses etc… The film took around six years to complete because of the difficulty in obtaining footage within these profitable industries.

You can watch the documentary online for free at www.earthlings.com .

Is there a pressure/activist group associated with this film? I think that there should be more awareness of cruelty to animals.

Shelly,
I believe there are many activist groups in this area, but Nation Earth was established to produce documentary films on socially urgent issues. EARTHLINGS, released in 2005, was the company’s first feature film and is the first of a documentary trilogy. The company is currently at work on the second installment, UNITY, which will explore the unifying force of consciousness found in nature, animals and humankind. Nation’s Earth website is http://www.nationearth.org, but it seems it’s down.

But honestly, people are afraid to watch this documentary. They think it’s too cruel. I agree with you that there should be more awareness regarding this issue, but I believe it should be done in a different way.

How can it be done in any other way? The film is non fictional, this is what is really happening, every minute of everyday! If it is too violent it is humankind’s fault…the meat eaters and rodeo goers and bullfighters and hunters and livestock farmers…they are all sick and demented and have forgotten what it means to be human. This is the truth, so everyone needs to stop pleading ignorance and open your fucking eyes and WATCH the brutality!
